valley by a flowing river
.Amitola's mother died when she was very young.She lived
in a Tee Pee with her father and gran parents.Her clothes and Tee Pee were to
teach her to decorate and make colorful clothes and jewlry.She was laughed at
by the other girls because of her plain dress this made her very sad.
She would
oftengo in to the forrest and watch the birds fly around,play and sing.Their color
ful feathers and beautiful songs made her very happy.She enjoyed them so much
she wouldd climb trees just to be closer to them.The birds ignored her for a very
long time.One day a Crardinal flew up to her.
The bird began to sing. To her amazement
she understood their language.At the end of the song the cardinal asked her why she was
always so sad.She told the bird about her mother who she missed very much and the other
childern laughing at her because she had no sense of color.
The Cardinal called the other bird warbcers,robins,orioces,wood thnush,and many other
colorful birds.
The birds in vited her to sing with them.She had never sang bofore and she was't sure she
could sing.With their proning she thought why not.All the birds started to sing she joined in to her
amazement she had a beautiful voice.
When the song was finished the cardinal explained that she represented all the birds present
of the forest because her mother named her Amotola which is made of all the colors..
The cardinalv told her that she should sing whaen she is working and think of her friends in the forest
and she would no longer be sad.
She returned tob the village and began to workand sing soon she had the most beautiful
moscousins,dresses,and jewlry and all the other girls envious but soon became her friends
seeking her advice.
